IOE Pulchowk Campus, Cloud Architecting

This two-day workshop at IOE Pulchowk Campus covered cloud architecting — not individual AWS services in isolation, but how they are assembled into a system that stays up, stays secure and does not cost more than it should.

Architecting is where the trade-offs live. The material covers compute and storage choices and what each one assumes, designing across availability zones so a single failure is survivable, identity and access management as the foundation of security rather than a step at the end, networking and VPC design, and the cost consequences that follow from architectural decisions long after they are made.

Pulchowk students are among the most technically prepared in the country, so the useful contribution is rarely the fundamentals. It is the reasoning — why a design that works on paper falls over under real traffic, and which decisions become expensive to reverse once a system is running.
